Gabetti and Isola have
protectively wrapped the building in two tone bright yellow and red Strip and have then
inserted an access portico on the side that faces the road, a gesture of welcome to those
approaching, well aware as they are that masonry is silent whilst doorways speak. They
have crowned everything with a two-sided roof supported by brick columns. These columns
have never been so clearly expressed as a principal element of architecture because those
in the court offices in Alba or in the extension of the Museo dellAntichità at Turin
are too thin to be thus considered. Apart from bearing witness to a peaceful relationship
with Classicism they turn the side facades into crypto-porticoes or into a eulogy of
ancient optical illusion that makes things seen more beautiful .... Materia
